Crooning for heartache

A talented singer/songwriter friend of mine, Rand Hubiak, shared this music video from Matt Alber with me this morning.

I thought I'd share. I really didn't know what to expect and when the video and song finished, I felt that familiar twinge of heartache that's been so much a part of my life, and informs my own art.

(And also makes me think about same-sex marriage.)

That's all I'll write for now.

Invite Beauty,

I.

I liked it too... I just listened, didnt watch. & I got choked up.
not to be selfish, but it makes me feel a bit better knowing you have heartache, too.
Everyone I know is pretending so hard that they are invulnerable & perfect, I forget that I'm not the only one.

So, so delicate and lovely. I love the stream of light when the barbershop draperies are pulled back.

Yes, that's one of my favorite cinematic scenes in the video.

It's strange also how certain movements, in voice and gesture, just get to me. With the physical stuff, I love when the two dance and each have their hands on the other's heart.

Songs and scenes like this always break my heart.

What a thing is memory.

Norn: This song chokes me up, too, with or without the video.

I don't think it's selfish of you to feel better for knowing I have heartache, too. I think it's human to want to know that you're not alone.

And you're not.
